Yu Xuan Kelvin Xie

Assistant Professor
Department of Materials Science and Engineering

kelvin_xie@tamu.edu

979-458-3184

Dr. Kelvin Xie’s research focuses on understanding and designing materials at nano- and atomic-scales using advanced microstructural characterizations (e.g. TEM and atom probe tomography). Kelvin is currently an Assistant Professor at Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. Before this appointment, he was working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and then an Assistant Research Scientist with Prof. Kevin Hemker at Johns Hopkins University. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Australian Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis under the supervision of Profs. Julie Cairney and Simon Ringer.

Sisi Xiang

Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Department of Materials Science and Engineering

sisixiang0@tamu.edu

Sisi is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at Beijing University of Technology – Beijing City, China in 2017. During her 7 years in Beijing Key Lab and Institute of Microstructure and Property of Advanced Materials at Beijing University of Technology, Sisi focused on understanding materials at atomic-level using advanced Electron Microscopy (e.g. Spherical-aberration corrected TEM and in-situ TEM) and related analysis microscopy methods. With a great passion for Materials Science, Sisi decided to continue doing research in this area and joined Dr. Xie’s group from Spring 2018. Her research direction is to investigate the mechanical properties (strength and ductility) and deformation mechanisms (dislocation and deformation twins) of boron carbide and HEA single crystals at both bulk and small scales using advanced microstructural characterizations techniques such as EBSD and TEM.

Dexin Zhao

Ph.D. Candidate
Department of Materials Science and Engineering

zhao291177@tamu.edu

Dexin is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering department at Texas A&M University. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) – Harbin City, China in 2017. During his 7 years in Harbin Institute of Technology, Dexin focused on the forming process of aluminium alloys. With a great passion for Materials Science, Dexin decided to continue studying in this area and joined Dr. Xie’s group in Spring 2018. His research direction is to investigate the deformation and recrystallization mechanisms of magnesium (Mg) and Mg-RE alloys using advanced microstructural characterizations techniques such as EBSD and TEM.
